Visual Tool Check

Visual Tool Check provides automated flank-wear measurement based on an extensive database. Its built-in AI functionality was trained by HEIDENHAIN to determine both the maximum and average flank-wear widths. To do this, the software does not need to be connected to the internet or a special server. 

Panoramic images of the tool's entire circumference allow you to virtually illuminate each edge from different angles. The full edge length can be captured in a single panoramic image. Chips, droplets, and other artefacts are automatically detected during wear measurement and ignored in the analysis.

Visual Tool Check delivers precise wear data within seconds after capturing an image. Based on user-defined warning and locking thresholds, the tool is assigned a traffic-light status. Tools marked “red” are immediately locked within the TNC's tool table. Statuses can also be manually assigned.

For the optimal comparison of an individual tool over extended periods of time, the Visual Tool Check software can capture images of the same edge position under identical lighting conditions. This automated feature enables an easier inspection process than manual microscopy in the lab.

The image database is organized based on the designations within the tool table. Using a special cycle parameter, users can also customize how images are grouped. With this and many other features, the Visual Tool Check software provides a fully digital solution that optimizes your tool management process.

Users can leverage the software's comparison mode to display side-by-side images of the same tool edge captured at different times. This function allows users to see with their own eyes how the level of tool wear has changed. The images can also be overlaid for a heatmap visualization of the changes.
